comicbook.com/starwars/2018/03/24/star-wars-solo-movie-villain-enfys-nest-legends/'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Villains Feature Legends Connection With two months to go until Solo: A Star Wars Story lands in theaters, many details about the spinoff film are still relatively unknown. Fans have discovered that the major threat to our beloved smuggler is named "Enfys Nest," with a description of a toy featuring the villain confirming that his gang is the Cloud-Riders, who previously appeared in a now non-canon Star Wars comic book series. The toy in question appeared on eBay and its description reads, "The Cloud-Rider gang led by Enfys Nest terrorizes the skies atop the mean-looking swoop bikes. Little more than engines with seats, swoops are hard to control but capable of incredible speed." When Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, the Lucasfilm Story Group was founded to ensure one single canon, utilizing only the events of the six live-action films and the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dozens of novels, comic books, and video games were relegated to "Legends" status, removing them from official canon. Many fans were disappointed with this decision, but the animated Star Wars Rebels began to draw a variety of elements from the Legends universe, such as villains Thrawn and Rukh. The incorporation of these characters didn't require previous knowledge of their backstories, with their integration allowing for tweaks to their history. According to Wookieepedia's description of this Legends gang, "The Cloud-Riders were a swoop gang operating on Aduba-3 and led by Serji-X Arrogantus. They lived in the hills just outside of Onacra. Once a year, they would attack the village, stampeding the villagers’ banthas, burning their crops, and carrying off their women." The description adds, "Eventually, the villagers worked out a deal with the Cloud-Riders. They would pay an annual tithe of 9,000 credits in exchange for being left alone. This only worked for three years before Arrogantus and his gang became restless and began attacking again. Because of this, the villager Ramiz asked for help from Han Solo and Chewbacca, who in turn formed the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3 to combat the Cloud-Riders. Arrogantus and most of the rest of the Cloud-Riders were killed by the Behemoth from the World Below. The survivors, without their leader, quickly disbanded the gang." Han Solo and Chewbacca are expected to cross paths with Enfys Nest and the Cloud-Riders, so it's possible a similar narrative will unfold in Solo. These characters aren't the only appearances from the Legends roster emerging in the film, as Stormtroopers Tag and Bink, who had their own comic book series, have been confirmed to appear in the film. Audiences will see Enfys Nest and the Cloud-Riders in action when Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th. Are you excited by the Legends connection or would you rather the film feature fresh characters? Let us know in the comments below! [H/T StarWarsNewsNet]

www.cbr.com/solo-star-wars-box-office-prediction-rogue-one/Early Solo Box Office Projections Echo Rogue One’s Numbers While buzz for Solo: A Star Wars Story hasn’t necessarily been great following the departure of original directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the film looks set to perform as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. According to Box Office Pro, the latest Star Wars prequel looks set to open to $150 million when it opens in May. While that’s nowhere near the opening numbers of either Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Star Wars: The Last Jedi, that is in line with Rogue One‘s opening back in 2016. That film went on to earn $155 million over its first three days before ending its theatrical run with $1 billion at the global box office. Interestingly enough, like with Rogue One, Solo has endured its fair share of rumors regarding behind-the-scenes drama during production. As fans will remember, Rogue One underwent what was reported to be extensive reshoots ahead of release. That left many worried for the production, fearful that it was a mess that Disney was trying to salvage in Post Production. Of course, those reshoots were nothing when compared to the behind the scenes drama surrounding Solo. The film parted ways with Miller & Lord halfway through production, later bringing in director Ron Howard to finish the movie. With Lucasfilm only beginning to market the film, many expected box office estimates to be low, especially given all of the rumors surrounding the production. However, the long range forecast seems to those issues are not currently harming the film’s box office projections. Of course, as this is a long range forecast, estimates can — and probably will — change closer to the film’s release. We’ll have a better idea of how well the film will perform when it’s about three-weeks out from release, when official estimates begin to hit. Based on a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson. The film arrives May 25. (via Screen Rant)

www.bleedingcool.com/2018/04/05/solo-a-star-wars-story-reportedly-set-to-premiere-at-the-cannes-film-festival/Solo: A Star Wars Story Set to Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival Posted by Kaitlyn Booth April 5, 2018 It sounds like if you want first dibs at the latest Star Wars movie you’re going to have to head to France. Acccording to The Hollywood Reporter Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15th ten days before its debut in North America. Solo: A Star Wars Story It’s becoming more and more common to premiere big movies at film festivals. Just last month Warner Bros premiered Ready Player One at South by Southwest. Film Festivals can’t survive on the pretentious crowd alone so these bigger names draw in more mainstream audiences. Those audiences are already there so perhaps they’ll end up seeing an indie they wouldn’t have sought out otherwise. “Star Wars has had a presence at Cannes in the past. Both 2002’s Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Revenge of the Sith played out of competition at the festival. The previous three Star Wars films — 2015’s The Force Awakens, 2016’s Rogue One and 2017’s The Last Jedi — have had their world premieres in Los Angeles. Howard brought his Da Vinci Code to the fest in 2006. What does this mean for the spoiler crowd? We’ll have to see but fans who want to go in without knowing anything should probably start avoiding social media after the 15th. Summary: During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion. Solo: A Star Wars Story, directed by Ron Howard, stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Thandie Newton. It will be released May 25th. www.cbr.com/solo-star-wars-enfys-nest-woman/Solo: Key Details Revealed Surrounding New Star Wars Villain As fans await the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, new details have dropped about the movie’s villainous Enfys Nest. It has already been revealed that Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han Solo will be facing off against a masked villain, but the first trailer from Ron Howard’s production gave only a glimpse of Nest in action. Alongside a name and a strong link to Star Wars Legends, the masked antagonist has been kept shrouded in mystery ahead of Solo‘s debut at the Cannes Film Festival — until now. A new report from Star Wars News Net ties nicely with promo material and drops the bombshell that Nest is actually a woman, making her one of the few female villains in Star Wars‘ cinematic lore. Rumored to either be a Boba Fett-esque bounty hunter or a rival smuggler, she promises to cause big trouble for Han, Chewie and the rest of the Falcon crew. The translation from a French magazine describes nest as follows: “Enfys Nest, an extremely dangerous marauder, has quickly forged an infamous reputation for herself and her gang of pirates – the Cloud Riders.” The trailer had already shown a group of enemy forces confronting Han, and it looks like the Cloud-Riders will pay some part in the storyline. Interestingly, the Cloud-Riders also appeared in the defunct Star Wars comics of the old continuity, further hyping up that Howard will be bringing back some forgotten history. There isn’t a closer look at Nest or any more information of her backstory, but the SWNN report suggests she could be played by English actor Lily Newmark. Other sources tell the site that Nest could be played by another actress (not listed on IMDb) who has also signed on for any potential sequels. If this is the case, Nest will be more than just a one-shot villain who is sent packing at the end of Solo. Joining the ranks of Captain Phasma as a female Star Wars movie villain, it is a case of wait and see as to what is true and false about these latest reports. SWNN also suggests that Nest won’t be the lead villain of Solo, but will instead serve as a secondary antagonist. Directed by Ron Howard from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. They’re joined by Thandie Newton as Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos and Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett. The film opens May 25.

www.bleedingcool.com/2018/04/20/han-solo-kessel-run-lando/Han Solo Didn’t Do the Kessel Run, Lando Calrissian Did Posted by Mary Anne Butler April 20, 2018 5 Comments Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email Reddit Take this with a grain of galactic salt, but what if Han Solo didn’t make the Kessel Run in the Millennium Falcon in this new Disney-owned Star Wars timeline? If we’re looking at the SW canon as it stands right now, Han never once says that HE was the pilot who completed the route in less than 12 parsecs — he says the Falcon did. So, what if it was Lando who actually completed it? We know he owned (or at least had possession of) the Falcon before Han did, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility. Yes, we know that in some of the now-non-canon EU (expanded universe) books (namely the “Han Solo Trilogy” by A.C. Crispin) we get an account of Han and Chewie completing the run, but in the films, Han never confirms that HE was the pilot during the run. In a new Star Wars canon book called “Last Shot” written by Daniel Jose Older, there is a line of Lando’s after a young smuggler claiming to be Han in order to get clients boasts that the Falcon made the run in less than 12 parsecs: “It was the ship that made the run, not the captain,” Lando says. Oooh, burn. The next line in the scene in the book from Lando tells the fake-Han that he “wasn’t even born when THE run happened.” Yes, we’ve ordered a copy for further investigation. Empire’s Solo-centric cover, on newsstands now Empire‘s Solo-centric issue has even more information about the famous route, diving into the Spice Mines of Kessel, and another mention of Han “claiming” to have done the run. There is yet further evidence we’ll get a mention of the Run in the film — the toy packaging for the upcoming Solo solo film (eww, we know, that whole thing with the knockoff Russian art that was actually real art) labeling the movie Falcon “the Kessel Run Millenium Falcon”. Specifically, the official LEGO set. Maybe we’ll get an answer to this 12 parsec question when Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on May 25th. (Last Updated April 20, 2018 1:35 pm )

www.cbr.com/solo-star-wars-wraps-post-production/Ron Howard Wraps Post-Production Work On Solo: A Star Wars Story Post-production has wrapped on Solo: A Star Wars Story according to director Ron Howard, leaving fans even more hyped for the May 25 opening. Howard recently indicated that the final edit was locked and that the score was complete, more or less confirming that he was just putting the finishing touches on the origin story of Han Solo, as played by Alden Ehrenreich in the film. Now, the job is officially complete with the director tweeting: “That’s a wrap on post production! #Solo @hansolostory #SkywalkerRanch Wow. What a movie-making adventure it’s been! Thanks to a terrific cast & extraordinary folks behind the camera as well. You’ve worked so hard to fully realize this cool story. Hope fans have a blast! #May25” While marketing took some time to get off the ground in the wake of Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi, things ramped up with a couple trailers, as well as lots of clips showcasing Han’s mentorship by Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), his meeting with Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), as well as the start of his friendship with Chewbacca. /photo/1?tfw_site=cbr&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cbr.com%2Fsolo-star-wars-wraps-post-production%2F Fans also recently began getting more insight into the Millennium Falcon, Han’s criminal lifestyle and robberies, as well as the enemies he’ll be facing other than the Galactic Empire. With the project being tracked to meet Rogue One’s opening haul, safe to say, we all have a good feeling about the space smuggler’s solo flick. They’re joined by Thandie Newton as Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge L3-37, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos and Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett. The film opens May 25.

comicbook.com/starwars/2018/04/28/star-wars-han-solo-alden-ehrenreich-selected-harrison-ford/Why Alden Ehrenreich Was Picked for 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Following Lucasfilm's announcement that they would be developing a film that would explore the origins of the iconic smuggler Han Solo, the role immediately became one of the most sought-after opportunities in Hollywood, which came along with it the pressure of living up to the role made famous by Harrison Ford. Alden Ehrenreich earned the opportunity and, while fans have to wait a little longer to see his portrayal in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the film's directors confirmed how the actor earned the coveted part. “An impression of Harrison Ford would have felt like an extended Saturday Night Live sketch,” original co-director Chris Miller shared with Esquire. “We wanted someone who could evoke the spirit of the iconic performance we all remember while bringing something new and fresh. We talked a little bit about how Chris Pine, playing Captain Kirk, didn’t do a Shatnervoice, and brought his own spin to the character while still evoking the vibe of the character. We felt Alden did the same with Han Solo.” Knowing the pressures of embracing the character, Miller and co-director Phil Lord reportedly met with thousands of different actors in hopes of finding the perfect performer. The duo settled on Ehrenreich and, interestingly, he was the very first actor they saw. “Alden, remarkably, remained the person to beat from day one,” Miller recalled. “We brought him in many times, pushed him, tried to test his range, and he was always up for it and brought something new, with a great sense of humor.” When audiences met Han Solo, he claimed to be an intergalactic smuggler who we learned was rough around the edges, yet ultimately had an endearing personality. These were the important characteristics the directors were looking for when searching for the perfect actor. “The outlaw thing is an act. We wanted someone who presented as a pirate but had a big heart underneath,” Lord noted. “He felt classic and contemporary all at once." He added, "He seemed like a tough guy who was really scared." Fans will get to see how Ehrenreich holds up to the high standards of the saga when Solo: A Star Wars Story lands in theaters on May 25th. How do you think the actor will handle the role?
